Variety is the spice of….

When people ask what I write about, I don’t know what to say. Because I pretty much take on any topic and run with it. Example: I kill plants. I’m just not good with keeping them alive and happy. Yet in the past seven days, I’ve had an article published about Arbor Day and another about public gardens in the Philly area.

I’m not religious, and yet I’ve been contributing to The Daily News’ “Where We Worship” weekly feature for about two years now. They’re fun to write and always interesting. The trick is listening and deciding how to set it up, what to lead with and what to feature.

My most recent one ran last week. It’s about Hope Church Philly, planted recently by a passionate preacher.

In March, I wrote about a Baptist church that was historically African-American but seeking to diversify.

Here’s a recent write-up on a Methodist church in New Jersey.

And a Catholic church in West Philadelphia.

And this piece on Christ Church, aka “The Nation’s Church” as folks like Ben and George prayed here.

I’ve also written about a few synagogues and the Ba’hai community, but the links are evading me at this point.
