Update: Philadelphia Cops Found Not Guilty of All Charges in Corruption/Racketeering Trial

On May 5, I shared my coverage of a federal trial involving six Philadelphia police officers charged with bad behavior ranging from theft to kidnapping to dangling suspects from balconies. The jury returned not guilty verdicts on all counts for all defendants. It was an incredible courtroom scene, with family members in the audience weeping quietly until all of the counts had been read. After the final “not guilty” from the foreman, the crying became louder as supporters embraced.

I was at home at 10:30 when I got an email and a text saying the verdicts would be revealed at 11 a.m. I flung on something halfway decent for court, ran to the Indego bike share rack and peddled like I had E.T. in my bike basket. I got there with 10 minutes to spare.
